Malaysia : DiGi Swisscom Changes Name to DiGi.Com
KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 (Sibexnews) -- Following the approval
granted by both shareholders and the regulatory bodies on April 28, DiGi Swisscom Bhd has
changed its name to DiGi.Com Bhd.
The national Bernama news agency reported that this new name
was to reflect the change of DiGi's strategic partner from Swisscom to Telenor, a leading
telecommunications giant in Europe.
The firm's managing director Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Din said
that the name change was also in line with future business developments and expansion
plans.
The firm is also aiming to increase Internet and
Internet-based services, and utilize new wireless technologies such as the Wireless
Application Protocol and General Packet Radio Services.
It would also continue to enhance its mobile communications
network, Abdul Rahim said.
Bernama stated that DiGi currently holds eight licenses to
operate telecommunications service in Malaysia, including GSM 1800, International Gateway,
domestic trunk and fixed line, radio paging and ISP. |
